A new item has been added to the GHS Archive: Letters from Sri Anirvan to Lizelle Reymond. This 296 page PDF document resides in the newly created Lizelle Reymond Archive.

From the description:

Lizelle Reymond (1899-1994) is known in Fourth Way circles for her publication of To Live Within: A Woman’s Spiritual Pilgrimage in a Himalayan Hermitage, Rudra Press, 1971.

According to her biography, as given in the foreword to the 1995 edition, she was sent back to the West from India to seek out Gurdjieff groups by her teacher of many years, Shri Anirvan. The documents in this digital file are scanned copies of letters (themselves copies) from Shri Anirvan to Lizelle Reymond beginning in 1949 and ending in 1976.

The letters given by Lizelle Reymond to Barbara Rosenthal, were in turn passed on to various individuals including Dr. Keith Buzzell who died in 2018. Barbara Rosenthal died on March 31st, 2020. According to Barbara, all the markings in the letters are Lizelle’s and the letters were given to Barbara with the statement “Here you are Darling. Do with them what you wish.”

In the archiving of Dr. Buzzell’s personal papers the decision was made to scan these letters and make them available to anyone that would find them of historical interest. We see no reason for the letters not to be shared according to individuals’ interests.

This collection is from the personal archives of Peter Colgrove, a friend of Olga de Hartmann. He worked with Mme. de Hartmann, Tom Daly, and Tom Forman for many years. There are photographs of Mme. de Hartmann on their travels together and at Nambe, near Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Some of the photographs that Peter Colgrove had in his possession belonged to Mme. de Hartmann before she met him.  Photographs of Thomas and Olga de Hartmann, Mme. de Hartmann’s family, Mme. Ouspensky, Mme. de Salzmann, William Segal, and others are included in the collection. The collection was donated by Jan Jarvis who received the materials from Elizabeth St. Lawrence. Some photographs of the Prieuré are also included.

This book provides entirely new source material for the Gurdjieff Work. It is an authentic transcription of talks given by Madame Ouspensky to her group at Mendham, distilled from notes taken by her pupils at the time.

Students of Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way know little about Madame Ouspensky’s thought or teaching because she left no written body of work-although some of her sayings were recalled by Robert de Ropp in his short account of his time with her. That has been virtually the only material extant. Until now.

Now, an authentic transcription of talks given by Madame Ouspensky to her group at Mendham is published here by the Gurdjieff Heritage Society. The talks, distilled from pupils notes, have been painstakingly compiled and edited by the late Dorothy Darlington who spent years with Madame and Mr Ouspensky and who had a special affinity with Madame.
